In the misty valleys of Jiangxi Province, where the Chang River winds through ancient hills, there is a city whose name has been synonymous with porcelain for over a thousand years — Jingdezhen. This is where our story begins.
Zhejiang Ceramics was born from a simple belief: that the world deserves to experience the same porcelain that emperors once treasured, the same craftsmanship that has been refined across seventeen centuries of continuous innovation.
What’s in a Name
Our Chinese name, 哲匠陶瓷 (Zhejiang Ceramics), carries a deeper meaning than meets the eye. 哲 (Zhe) speaks to wisdom — the accumulated knowledge of generations of artisans. 匠 (Jiang) means craftsman — the hands that shape raw clay into objects of beauty. Together, they embody our philosophy: wisdom guided craftsmanship.
We believe that truly great porcelain is not merely manufactured — it is understood. Every piece we offer carries within it the wisdom of a thousand-year tradition and the skilled hands of artisans who have dedicated their lives to this craft.
The Jingdezhen Legacy
Jingdezhen is not just a place — it is the undisputed capital of porcelain. For over 1,700 years, its kilns have burned without interruption, producing the finest ceramics the world has ever known. From the celadon of the Song Dynasty to the blue-and-white masterpieces of the Ming and Qing eras, Jingdezhen has defined what porcelain can be.
The secret lies in the land itself. The surrounding mountains hold some of the finest kaolin clay and petuntse (porcelain stone) on earth — the two essential ingredients that give Jingdezhen porcelain its legendary translucency, durability, and that distinctive ring of quality when struck.
